Vitalii Chychasov, a 37-year-old Ukrainian man, was apprehended in March 2022 while attempting to enter Hungary and subsequently extradited to the United States. Recently, he has entered a plea of guilt to charges of conspiracy to commit access device fraud and trafficking in unauthorized access devices, related to his role as the administrator of the now-closed SSNDOB Marketplace.
Operating as a platform that traded sensitive personal information of individuals in the United States, the SSNDOB Marketplace facilitated the sale of data such as full names, dates of birth, and Social Security Numbers (SSNs).
Court documents reveal that investigators managed to secure a digital copy of the servers associated with the marketplace around May 2020. Additionally, they conducted an undercover purchase from the platform during the same period.
The tracking of the Bitcoin transaction used in the undercover operation led investigators to a wallet that had received 989 Bitcoin between August 2017 and October 2021. Subsequently, approximately 45.99 Bitcoin from this wallet were traced to a HitBTC account in 19 transactions, which was linked to Chychasov. His Ukrainian passport was used for identity verification when opening the HitBTC account.

Further scrutiny revealed that Chychasov operated an account on Bitfinex with the username “ramashka,” associated with the email address [email protected]. This email address was used to register the ssnob.ws domain on November 4, 2015. Between August 2017 and September 2018, Chychasov’s Bitfinex account received around 53.6 Bitcoin from the SSNOB Bitcoin wallet.
In a significant development, the investigators seized the domains associated with the marketplace, including ssndob.ws, ssndob.vip, ssndob.club, and blackjob.biz, on June 7, 2022.
Having pleaded guilty to the aforementioned charges, Chychasov now faces a potential maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. In addition to his guilty plea, he has agreed to forfeit $5 million.
